What piece would you want played at your funeral?

One piece my fellows. If you had to pick a SINGLE piece (if it's a multi movement work then pick a single movement) to be played at your funeral, what would it be? Happy, sad, triumphant, depressed, WHATEVER! What would you choose if you could have ANYTHING played at your funeral?

I'll start things off. Cliche as it is, I would have to have the "Ode to Joy" played at my funeral. The whole thing too, not some dumbed down, childhood whistling version either. It's such a beautiful piece, I'd think I'd want the attendees to remember me by it.

I realize this is both extremely unrealistic and somewhat arrogant, but hey it's hypothetical. Your turn.

The Crisis - Ennio Morricone

or (and I know I'm cheating here)

Salvation is Created - Pavel Chesnokov

or (and now I'm really cheating)

Shenandoah - Frank Ticheli

I honestly can't choose between those, but I'll make sure that I have a LONG funeral so that they can all fit in lol

I think I would like to have Chopin's Nocturne in C minor. Or maybe his "Raindrop" prelude. Or maybe "The Breaking of the Fellowship," by Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings). Or maybe Jupiter by Holst. Or maybe...

So many songs to choose from, only one funeral... =P

Anyway, I suppose that when I become a more skilled composer, I will probably compose a song or two that would be fitting for my funeral.

Without a doubt,

.

Quite possibly the most beautiful song I've ever heard for all it's simplicity. Max Richter did a wonderful job. ^^

And when the violin comes in with the high-pitched half notes, I can barely keep my eyes dry :(

I'd hire a quintet myself if I had to.

The Requiem I shall write for myself, what else ?

Hahaha! That's exactly what I was thinking! However, on a more serious note, I would want the actual Ode to Joy as the original poster had said. It's just so beautiful and Beethoven's 9th is my favorite work anyways, so why not!? Other than the OP thinking that it's "cliche" I have yet to find anything more simply beautiful than this!

Well, if my future Requiem can't be performed because everybody runs scared away :P I can set as 2nd option the St.Mathew Passion Aria "Erbarme Dich" has one of the most beautiful and profound Violin parts ever composed, and sung by a beautiful Alto Voice, (a mature woman please, NO childs)
