Peter_W.
I really think it'd reduce confusion if there were some prominent notice in each upload forum that threads are started by upload, not by post. When I first came here, it confused me pretty badly. And I see newbies are still confused by it. -Peter
Marius
I agree with you. Do you think that having a notice would be the most efficient way to get this across? I wonder what the most obvious way of communicating this would be. The issue with making it part of the sign-up process (which is something we talked about at one point) is that most people just ignore any fine print that you throw at them while they make an account. Peter_W.
I think a prominent "Upload new composition" button in the upload forum next to the "you cannot post a new thread in this forum" notice would do it. Also, uploading new compositions in general needs to be easier to access. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but it's a bit of a pain to go to profile and sort through the binder to do a simple function. And it's a HUGE pain to explain to newbies who don't know how to do it.
chopin
YC Classic offers a way to just click on "Upload Composition" within the forum. However YC Modern doesn't account for this. Are you referring to YC Modern? Because YC Modern is still a prototype skin, but everyone is still defaulted to YC Classic. Uploading a piece is pretty straight forward on this skin, no? It takes the user directly to the upload application.
Peter_W.
I'm talking modern. I can't stand using classic anymore. Modern is much, much more sleek, though classic has more useful features (like the activity button and the upload button).
chopin
Got it, I will address those issues, they should be quite simple to fix.
