How To Configure Midi Keyboard And Vst Libraries In Sibelius 7 ?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to configure my MIDI keyboard in Sibelius 7, but I'm not sure how to configure it properly. It works okay but it has a slow response when I play the notes, with the ASIO drivers running, that shouldn't happen because I use ASIO as well in FL studio and the response is perfect, so, do you have any idea on how to fix this ? or if it can be fixed or improved somehow to begin with ?

And another question, I just started using it and I would like to know if it's possible to add an East West Vst instrument into Sibelius sound library, and how ??

Thank you

vi esto desde ayer pero no respondia porque te contesto por aqui y por alla vas a decir que no te dejo... a ver...

There actually nothing to configure in Sibelius, Sibelius is a notation software, focused on the music will be printed, how it looks, I only use the controller to play and listen or input notes, but all the knobs faders are useless, just click in File - Preferences -> input device, "Find new device" and my Axiom appears, that's it.

What is what you would like to do with the controller, or what is what you tried ?

I'd say if you don't load a super bunch of samples, used the windows audio controller "Controlador Primario de sonido" (creo se llama)

About the EWQL into Sib is possible just I don't have EWQL, google for EWQL Soundsets for Sibelius 7...Marius, or other can answer this.

I wasn't sure if it's possible, I was just exploring the possibilities of the software. I noticed it has an option to "record" and I was trying to do so instead of playing note by note, play along with the metronome or something, and then edit the resulting notation, something like that is possible but the notation gets all messed up because of the late response to the midi keyboard : P

So what I'm looking for is precisely the option to change the audio controller driver, because I'm assuming the Windows primary one is set as default, and the MIDI keyboard only works properly with ASIO driver. It doesn't seem to have that option to configure, do you know if it does somewhere? I'm guessing it doesn't because it's not really designed to perform music like you say, but just wanted to be sure.

Thank you for your help and thank you Austenite for your good wishes : P

No, don't record becuase you won't play 100% on time and Sibelius will write a bunch of semi-demi-quaver or stuff like that.

you can input a quaver for instance, then select with mouse, then you press any key and if writes it, then continue playing and it keeps writing, play a chord and it writes it too..

I use R key to repeat, you input a note with mouse, the select it and press R, then with arrows move it to correct staff line and with numeric keyboard select quaver semiquaver ets, then press R again and do the same, so you input all with the R key (that's why I've broken that key on keyboards :D )

Audio Driver should not affect Midi Keyboard, it sends midi messages, Audio Driver doesn't not work with that.

let me check how is setup mine.

EDIT:

I have it

Controlador primario de sonido

Outputs (no se habilita)

Buffer Size: 4096

Sample Rate: 44100

Latency: 92.88

works fine to write and play but simple stuff, I can't load a full orchestra.

You can add your EWQLSO VSTs to Sibelius, apparently. You need sound sets, and unless you're an ultranerd and can make your own manual sound sets, then you can get them for $25 or so from this programmer Jonathan Loving's website at The Sound Set Project. I just bought them so I could use my Symphonic Orchestra Gold library in Sibelius 7 and the install went smoothly but, being that this type of stuff typically takes me hours of laboriously picking through outdated forum threads trying to decipher the meaning of some new file extension etc., I'm presently stuck on the Playback Configuration settings.

About recording in Sibelius 7 as mentioned above, if you don't want the hemidemisemiquavers, you can go to Note Input>Flexi-Time>Renotate Performance, and set the Quantization unit to whatever note value is smallest in whatever you're trying to record.
