On some positive stuff, what is everyone working on? I'm starting on my last two movements of my symphony. It's very programmatic based on scriptures from the Old Testament and I'm learning Dvorak 8th!

Currently working on the fourth movement of my very programmatic Adriana Suite, Op. 27b (the first three movements are already uploaded here in YC) and the draft for its fifth (last) movement, as well as the completion of a short piano piece (a collaborative work with a fellow YC member). A set of variations on the latter is on the planning stages (not sure though if these will be for piano solo or for orchestra). Also projecting a significant chamber work (probably a Trio, which would be my 2nd), a setting on a sonnet by Shakespeare, and my large-scale Third Symphony.

Too many projects, too few time to carry them out :hmmm: ...

I'm currently working on a set of oboe pieces I'm working on for an oboeist I know. She's going to premiere them in May... time's running out.

Dolphy:

PS, Please tell me when the trumpet player breathes??? I mean yeah there is circular breathing but gawd he must need an oxygen mask after that piece.

As for what I am working on - well had a reading of my violin duos I wrote a few months ago and accordingly made some excellent revisions. Recording will happen this week.

Still working slowly on my piano quintet. Hopefully I will have the first movement complete by early April. Yet I am excited because I never wrote a movement which lasted over 8 minutes - it is up to 9.5 and I forsee it being between 12 - 14 minutes.

I noticed that for piano quintets it is not unusual for the first movement or more than one mvmt to exceed 8 minutes. I think there is something about the rich textures possible with piano and string quartet which lend it to longer durations of music.
