Guest Young Musicians Foundation

Young composers between the ages of 12 and 18 are invited to submit chamber works for piano trio (violin, cello, piano). Young Musicians Foundation (YMF) is proud to once again offer young Southern California composers a chance to compete in its Chamber Music Composition Competition. Winner(s) receive a cash prize, and the winning composition is performed during our Chamber Music Series Recitals.

Composition Requirements:

  • 5-10 minutes in length
  • Single movement only
  • Piano trio instrumentation (violin, cello, and piano)
  • Written in the last two years
  • Has not yet been performed

Application Requirements:

Due to YMF's nonprofit status, applicants must be residents of Southern California between the ages of 12 through 18 (senior year of high school). Each application must include:

  • a completed application form (download from the YMF website)
  • four (4) copies of the composition
  • proof-of-age documentation (photocopy of a driver license, birth certificate, or passport)
  • and a $20 application fee.

Mail all application materials to the Young Musicians Foundation office by Friday, Feb 1, 2013 (not a postmarked date):
