Young Composers Awards 2012 - Results! :d

To prevent these prize winning composers and their works to be forgotten I think a directory of winning pieces should be opened or all winning works become "major works" so people will hear them more frequently. What do you think?

I like Sojar Voglar's proposal. I don't know how does a work get into the "Major Works" file, but if there are different criteria, we could as well just have another file for "YC Members' Choices".

I disagree. The major works section should not work by public opinion.

Although I agree that the changes are quite good that voted works will get into MW (My faith in democracy hold the collective of voters in some esteem, hoping that it will balance out the undeserving works) But it should not be automated.

The radio does not fullfil the purpose since the youtube video uploads are not produced on radio.

But the rating system still applies, and the search engine still works. Still enough vox populi for your works :) and rightly so.

My only point is that winners should not be excluded from the existing MW-guidelines

I hate college, It made me completely forget about these awards, oh well. It was a huge honor to be nominated for my Viola Concerto, I litterally went "aww" out loud when I read it on the nominated list. Congrats to Austenite and Sojar Voglar, you both deserve it, your talent and support for this community absolutely amazes me, you both are fantastic composers and one day, when I become a band director and I'm talking to my students while rehearsing your pieces, i'll be like "yeah, I knew Sojar Voglar and Austenite, yeah, be amazed" and they'll all look at me as if I said I met Obama and Clinton. Great job, I look forward to see what you two will contribute this year! And congrats to everyone else as well XD congrats to everyone in this forum, congrats to the whole world because why not!

Not quite.  But almost everyone ascending to a position like that (including equivalent positions in other countries) usually gets there by being the worst kind of person.  Perhaps there are a few, a very few, exceptions.

With Morivou out of the picture, what will the prizes be? My suggestion remains the same: put all winning works on a special directory or at "Major works".
