Off-Site: Cine Film Scoring Competition For Emerging Composers

Recommended Posts

A UNIQUE, INNOVATIVE COMPETITION TO SUPPORT EMERGING COMPOSERS

CINE is now accepting registrations for the 2nd Annual Film Scoring Competition for Emerging Composers! Composers may register at http://www.cine.org/film-scoring-competition-entry/. Registration is $25 (US).

HOW IT WORKS:

Entering composers will each score the same CINE Golden Eagle Award-winning short film (approx 4 minutes) from which the existing score has been removed. Judges will select 10 semi-finalists and 5 finalists, and a panel of guest judges will select the competition winner and two runners-up.

We are thrilled to announce our guest judges for this year's competition:

Mychael Danna, Academy Award-winning composer of Life of Pi, Little Miss Sunshine and Moneyball

Daniel Carlin, Director of the Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television Program, USC Thornton School of Music

George S. Clinton, Chair of Film Scoring, Berklee College of Music

The competition finalists will be invited to CINE’s annual awards gala in June of 2014 in Washington, DC, where the winner and runners-up will be announced. To watch the winning scores from the inaugural Film Scoring Competition, click here.

THE PRIZE

The winner of CINE's 2014 Film Scoring Competition can choose to be added to the composer pool of Score A Score, bypassing the audition process. Score A Score provides countless music opportunities from major ad agencies, trailer houses, film studios and more. In addition, each finalist will get a profile on CINE's website including a demo reel, short bio, and links to websites and social media.
