Looking For A Mentor

Counterpoint is something I need to grasp if I wish to grow.

Working with an instructor is always good, but learning on your own gives you some good habits as well, of which I'm sure you're aware. (It's Nick from noteflight btw). Also, if you want to learn counterpoint better, I suggest buying Fux's Study of Counterpoint from his Gradus Ad Parnassum - it worked wonders for me in learning the basics of all species counterpoint. :)

aaah I hate Fux! He's a boring lecturer who inspired centuries of joyless pedagogy, and he's not even historically correct. (I like his compositions, though)

And after starting this flamewar, I think you'll see that I'm a bad influence :P

Hah! Nah, understandable. He was bashing the beginnings of classicism in his work, of which I wasn't happy about, but I thought very amusing! xD
