OldAccountLOL
Question 1 (fermata):Which one do you prefer?(in case you're wondering, 2 is correct: the 3/4 meter is just implied)My main concern is if this use of the fermata is correct, since we know that generally it is used when a section of the piece ends (and the performer kind of takes a breath), or when the piece itself ends (final chords taking how long you want, for emphasis). Question 2 (acciaccatura):Knowing that the correct way to notate a slur is:how do you notate an acciaccatura?
Chalkwriter
1. It depends what you want; 1) implies the note is lengthened by an indeterminate amount, where as 3) clearly shows the C should be held for two beats (to me 2) looks ugly and confusing). Both 1) and 3) are perfectly acceptable notations, however. 2. Use 1); in my opinion 2) looks ungainly (not to mention most scores I've checked use notation 1))
OldAccountLOL
Both 1) and 3) are perfectly acceptable notations, however. That's what I wanted to know. I'll use 1 then since it better reflects my original idea (a kind of "free tempo introduction"). 2. Use 1); in my opinion 2) looks ungainly (not to mention most scores I've checked use notation 1)) Yup, my thoughts, but just wanted to be sure. WinterHorizon
What is wrong with 2)? It shows the correct number of beats in the measure. Also, if you move the quarter rest to the first beat, wouldn't that make it less confusing? EDIT: I'm sorry, I should have clarified. This question is in respect to Question 1 and Chalkwriter's response. Edited January 11, 2016 by WinterHorizon
OldAccountLOL
@johnbucket WinterHorizon was obviously talking about question number 1.
