danishali903
It's a nice little piece, though underdeveloped and repetitive. It seems like the main melodic material is mainly given to the trumpet and horns...maybe it would be best to pass it around to the lower brass too. The choral hymn-like section (around measure 25) was a little odd, and felt out of place. You also have to remember that brass players need to breathe a lot, so I would be wary about writing long notes.
AmareAppogiature
Thanks for the critique. I was able to have it performed at school and there were definitely issues with breathing and worn out chops especially for the trumpet and first horn players. By underdeveloped do you mean there should be a greater degree of variation on the initial theme, or that it needs work harmonically, or both? I feel like neither would go amiss. danishali903
I would say both. The theme you present in the trumpet feels like the beginning of a tune, and it doesn't feel "finished". You can also take more risks harmonically, maybe introduce a secondary theme.
AmareAppogiature
Ok...I'll try and spend some time reworking it with those things in mind then. Thanks again!
