panta rei
Hello everyone, Recently, I had a look again at my older compositions, and I am posting this one (early 19th century style) here for review. It was my first attempt to write something for violin and piano. Since I am not a violin player, I am not so confident with the bowing slurs. But I suppose that a good violinist could easily help me with this. I have also written about half of the second movement, but I don´t know if it is worthwhile to continue ( working on so many other projects right now!) I am looking forward to your comments. Maarten Bauer
Very nice melodies! I love this genre and I think you have done quite well. I love the harmony changes and there is a lot of interaction between the piano and violin, which makes it sound more interesting. I have not found any passages where the violin part is unplayable, but I am not a violin player. It is certainly worthwile to compose the other movements! Well done. bkho
Very nice indeed. I would just recommend breaking up the slurs so they don't extend over a measure, especially in cases where you have the eighth note figurations following by longer duration notes. Otherwise, this is a very playable work which would be a nice intermediate level piece for a student violinist and I mean that as a compliment since I actually think it is hard to write good pieces that are not too difficult to play. Just 2 cents from a former very mediocre violinist.
