Live Orchestra Recordings (Budapest)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I did some live recordings with the budapest scoring orchestra in 2015, here's my favorite one, "Spaghetti Con Brio", enjoy! :): (mix by Greg Townley)

They had just around 25 minutes to record that piece but pretty much nailed it (the runs in the middle part are ridiciously hard).

Here's another one, I especially enjoyed the strong brass playing: (mix by Greg again, his work was amazing on this one)

And then I did another shorter one, but in a moore cartoon style direction: (mixed by John Rodd)

This one is the last work I did (new to come!) and is again kinda Disney, but a bit more heroic. Actually especially the first part is inspired quite a lot from John Ottman's Astroboy (fantastic score btw, check it out if you didn't yet).

If you'd like to hear more, check out my other works.

As I was asked by a lot of people; you can download pdf scores for all compositions here:
As an introductory offer you can download the Mr. Alice and Spaghetti Con Brio full conductor scores for free (by just clicking on the download button) you name the price for the other two scores, starting at just 1 $.

Feedback would be highly appreciated! :)

Wow, very impressive. I enjoyed it.

To be honest, I don't have any critique considering orchestration, harmony etc.. . . Maybe that's because I am no professional composers.
I like all the compositions, the third one sounds like Harry Potter, but that can be my experience.

Although I have no critique about your ''technique,'' I have some about the more originality.
I doubt if I hear your voice. I hear many influences, but I think the pieces lack a sort of originality. This is just my opinion and I found that you need to know it.

Very well done!

Maarten's comments at the end resonate with me as well. I don't mean to say your work is "unoriginal" but amidst the inspirations and style quotations, I had a hard time hearing a definitive composer style. A lot of lydian scales, while always fun, can only do so much. ;)
The mixing helped but I can definitely see your strings melodies getting covered up in some live performances depending on your hall, since they're normally only doubled by the octave.
Overall, great work, but I want things to resonate with me, not just pop at me. Cheers!
