Wonderful Moment

Your tonal system is fine so I won't really comment on that (some more variation would have been nice, but it sounds good so idk), but there are a couple other things on the production side:
The rhythm, to me, is not static and it feels unnaturally bipolar. Some eighth notes push and pull in awkward places. This happens all over the place.
When the string came in at the beginning, either the piano needed to shift volume to compensate or the strings needed to be less of a moment, because it felt imbalanced and the strings felt cut off rather than faded, which takes away from the atmosphere a bit.

Thanks for you reply.

I don't quite understand technical terms since I'm not a pro, but I think I know what you talk about. I was playing piano part live so I will have to snap notes to right positions to make it rhytmically correct.

Also you are totally right about strings - I still have to work on dynamics.

A really fine piece..  Yes, the strings come in almost too strong at first.  Perhaps They could have started sparser and then filled in.. or just have been a bit softer.  I sometimes after intitial recording, listen to to what each instrument is doing..  I might go thru and drop out some 3rds or 5ths out of one instrument's part. if it is being covered by another instrument.  This also 'opens' the piece up.. When your string chords come in,  they are almost demanding all your attention, when the piano melody is what is carrying things. Because the bell/vibe sound is nice.  I would just ride the string chord volume a bit.. (a tad lower) adding volume dynamics to instruments later..

You might want to try a slightly wider panning.. see if that helps or not..  This is a very delicate piece and is truly beautiful..  of course I want to hear it longer..

very good.

Hi Mark,

For some reason I haven't noticed your post earlier....

I'm really glad you like it.

Everything you said is valid, though this is only a preview - I wanted to check with other people to see how they react to it and didn't work much on technical side.

I will try your technique listening to every instrument for itself and I'm already working on strings to make them more "human" :).

And ofcourse, one it's finished I will post it here.

Thanks again.

Hello everyone,

I have manage to finish Wonderful Moment.

I've tried to listen to suggestions and fix everything that needed to be fixed :).

In the end I didn't make it to long but I didn't want to loose "the essence" of what I was trying to express....So feel free to give your thoughts about it, as always I would love to hear what you think or how to make it better.
