2 Suggestions/Problems with Audio Player

Recommended Posts

I have two suggestions/problems with the audio player. I use Firefox by the way.
1. Is there a way to skip forward and backward through an uploaded audio file?
2. Is there a way to download an uploaded audio file?

For me it would be a huge advantage when we could skip forward and backward through the shared music.
It makes it a lot easier to give feedback and it saves a lot time, especially with pieces longer than five minutes.
At the moment I have to listen to (almost) the entire piece each time when I only want to listen again to a specific part later in the piece.

I use Google Chrome and I do not know if this option is already present on other browsers.

I confirm that I experience the same problem on Chrome; however, I am able to move through the playback on Firefox. @chopin should look into this.

Maarten, that is exactly what I'm talking about.

This should work if you have FireFox.  Although I've tried to get this to work in Chrome with no success.  The player uses SoundManager2, and I tried for hours to figure out how to enable seeking, but can't seem to find a solution to this.

There actually is, but I discourage it, which is why I don't enable easy downloadable links.  But if you insist on downloading a file, you can by viewing the source code (normally Ctrl U), and searching for a .mp3 extension.

Is there a reason you discourage downloading? Also, what do I click on to move forward or backward through an audio file?

If I offered the ability to download as well as stream, the bandwidth of this server would increase considerably.  To move forward or backward, just click and drag the seek bar to the right or left.  This should work fine in Firefox, but as I said before, I just can't seem to get this to work well in Chrome.  I honestly don't know why though.

On my Mac, with latest version of OSX and Safari..  the progress bar NEVER moves.  Been that way for a while (since you updated mp3 player, it used to work)..  I just live with it, or use Firefox.

I've updated this issue finally, and this issue should be resolved for the Mac now.  Everyone should now have the ability to seek through a piece.  Please let me know if this has been addressed.
