Dream On

First of all : Hello everyone!

This is one of my first serious attempts at a big orchestral soundtrack. It's supposed to be performable but I don't think that it falls into the classical music category, and it is way too short for that.

I think I'll leave the more technical analysis you requested to some of the more experienced members of the forum,

but from what I can tell the orchestration here seems solid. I wouldn't take any stretch of the imagination to picture this being piece performed in my mind.

I would suggest that the 'climactic' second towards the end could be extended somewhat as it seems maybe a little short to provide 'closure' to the piece. For a piece of this length though I think it suffices.

Overall I think it's a great composition, good work!

The orchestration in the beginning bothered me a little bit through the repetition of a tonic m7 chord with no real changes past Db5, which is a little bit frustrating as it felt like it should grow in that kind of buildup but it never seemed to really get there until the very end.
Otherwise, it seemed mostly okay with a very well thought out idea of what is important where (the fundamental question when dealing with orchestration).
Some chordal issues appeared in your pseudo-polyphony vs. ostinato, where close intervals don't really resolve "correctly", by which I mean the dissonance never seemed to resolve, thus keeping it in the audience's mind, preventing further listening for a few seconds.
Overall, it's very charming and I really like it; only touch ups will do!

@Slazeus Thanks for the comment and I’m glad that you enjoyed it. I actually planned it to be a bit longer, but I had a hard time keeping it consistent hence an ending that may be short.
@Monarcheon Thank you for the analysis. What moments do you have in mind when you mention unresolved dissonances? I thought about those ostinatos as some sort of backbone in this composition, it would be great to know your outlook on it.
