Forest Rain

So I made this a while back when I was fascinated by anything made by Glass. It's still a work in progress, possibly was. I wanted to create something based around one recurring motive, kind of SNES soundtrack meets minimalism meets Hans Zimmer and while in my head it sounded ok in reality I find it annoying. It just seems too much "in your face" and it lacks development. Anyways I'd appreciate any feedback (I don't mind negative comments) or ideas.

It's not quite like Glass, but that's okay, because this is still really, really good! I liked this piece a lot. Lots of cool turns with the ostinato somehow never really getting boring because you switch up the orchestration so much to accommodate. I think some of the bigger sections seem like you're stretching for ways to twist the feeling a little too much in spite of this fact, and that's why it sounds so different than the rest of the piece. The ending also could be extended a little bit.
But that's a lot of nitpicking. The Db major was such a wonderful moment, as was the steady build using nonfunctional harmony. Great work, really.

@Luis Hernández Yes I wanted for it to be more minimal but it got boring fast, hence the cinematic buildups. Even then I seriously thought about giving up and moving on but I'll give it another chance, after a while. Thanks for the comment!

@Monarcheon Thanks for your input and I'm glad you enjoyed it! It started as an extremely repetitive piano composition and I constantly tried to make it more varied, but the more I worked on it the more it started to get on my nerves and I've had enough. Anyway it's really great to have an external opinion and to read that it's not annoying as I imagined it to be. I'll definitely take your tips in consideration when I get back to working on it.

@ilv It is repetitive, it's true that the rhythm doesn't change at all. I think I'll add something to vary it. I still have to sort out percussion so I'll try playing with that. Or maybe other instruments etc.
