After Rain (Original Piano Composition)

Vindhie Lin

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm a classical trained piano player. However, since I listened to Yiruma's piano music, I was inspired to start my own composition :)

My friend commented that this composition, After Rain, is like "Bach Meets Yiruma" piece since overall it has classical vibe but towards the end it goes emotional.

Let me know what you think. All opinions and feedback are really appreciated!

Thanks a lot!

Watch out for your nonharmonic tones sometimes, as they create dissonances I'm not sure you want, like a m9 in a iii chord, with a passing tone in the high melody.
The time changes were effective but sometimes a little too obvious for my taste... that could just be a me thing though. It's what I like about Prokofiev Symphony 5.
I agree with Luis's comments about the harmonic language... bVI's, bVIII's, and v's could be a fun thing to play around with for similar things in the future.

Thanks a lot for the comment and suggestion.

Yes, I agree that it's quite standard progression, since I tried to do variation only in its tempo, and overall I wanted to create something that simple and easy listening. But I think it's true that it can be more interesting if there are some changes.

I'll take note! Thanks again :)
