It's Then or That

Just an sketch of an instrumental backing track for the musical I'm writing. I'm planning on orchestrating saxes and brass into it, but I kind of like the dynamic for now. I didn't bother putting in the lyrics since they wouldn't be helpful for the music.

Know the feeling you get when you try and swallow your fear and go over to the lady at the bar asking her for a dance? That's the feeling I get...until around 1:20 or so. It's very jazzy yet very creepy. I've never heard of such a mixture before.

It is very unique in its own right and I think this could possibly spark a new genre of music. Can't wait to hear it when it's full and complete; you're adding more to it? This...strikes my curiosity ten fold though I am at a loss of words at the moment.

Thanks, both of you. The music is practically done actually, it's just a matter of full orchestration, lyrics, script, etc.
@LostSamurai experiment with this sometime. A combination of whole tone scale harmony and chromatic harmony creates a sort of atmosphere where there's no tonic and no real chord progression, unless you add things on top, which is what starts happening at 1:20, and again at the recapitulation.

What's going on in the musical at this point?  It feels like there is a Sharks and Jets snap battle/dance-off happening.  :D

The main character is struggling to decide whether or not to decide to start working at a speakeasy in her time of need. It's basically a dialogue between her and the person trying to convince her to.

Yes, great.  The walking bass, gets me a little dizzy at first, but does set the mood. Excellent break downs, Beginning Part seems like 'controlled chaos, or madness'.. I totally love when you get into the fuller orchestration..  A mastery of choice of chords also..  Well done.
