The horns and strings sound great together. Starting with low strings then moving up the register, it builds nicely. In spite of the inherent cliché of the chord progression you made good use of suspensions, some temporary dissonances and generally good voicing throughout.

Thanks! Never thought of it that way, but makes perfect sense!

I think that it sounded very nice. When you reach the climactic motif at the end I think that there could be a bit more movement. The three note motif is definrtly the focal point, but maybe incorpaorate a complex countermelody that makes the ending a bit more unpredictable. Some scales or more interesting countermelody in the low strings or clarinets perhaps, maybe some appreciation. I would suggest something with either a sixteenth or triplet feel. This is truly a beautiful piece. As a hornist, I approve. The trumpet countermelody could be heard louder with some lower instruments with it. This would make for a larger contrast. I really like the piece.

Sorry. This refers to the piece itself, not the mixing.

Thanks for the comments, Trevor!

Definitely something I can keep my ear on in the future – compositionally I can't do anymore about it though since it was already recorded.
