When was the last time you composed music for a client?

Recommended Posts

The last piece I uploaded on a post for you.

The animator didn't like any of the many versions I had to make,

the hardest part was not to tell her to go flap herself after telling me these are not good although they follow each and every one of her instructions.

The longest part was trying to understand what is it she wants exactly.

I'm working on two client orchestra works right now. They're not being too picky, but music for film which I'm also done is, in contrast, very picky. And you can't fault them for that. They have a vision and they hired you because they thought you could help them achieve that. If their mind changes, that's quite honestly to be expected since many commissioners are not musicians. Orchestration always takes the longest, even if you have a general concept for what you're wanting to get out of it.

I'm always working for a client. Delivered a score today actually.

I actually don't know what takes the longes. I take my time to come up with the concept and then just go to work with arranging and orchestrating. I make sure to take plenty of breaks and I actually think that's the reason I don't get stuck.

The hardest part is waiting for feedback. You wait in a limbo because you don't really know what to do with yourself and how long you've got till your next sprint.
