Hi guys. This is a song I wrote called ''The Boy from Memphis''. It's still in demo status but I really wanted to share it with Elvis' fans (I guess we've got a few around here).

A humble homage to one of the greatest singers of all time. Hope you enjoy:

This is a bit of a strange recreation of an Elvis-era song. It's almost as if it's competing with the progressive rock that came after, especially with the synths near the end.
The focus on power chords in the main riff is a little empty-sounding. The horn section helps out sometimes but not enough to maintain a consistent tonality.
My other issue is the ending. The only way you can make the two sections connect is through major analytical harmonic reaches and references very little, with an entirely different key center and progression. The fact it doesn't have any lyrics to connect the A to the B makes the connection even harder.

Thank you fro the detailed review, Monarcheon. I really appreciate.

I just disagree with you about this song being more progressive rock. The synths I used was trying to get a horn section effect. I do not have the resources right now to do it with real players and real instruments. That's just the idea.

As pointed by one hard core Elvis' fan this song reminded him a lot of ''Patch It Up''. And he sure was right. I tried to add some elements from his songs and put my feeling into it but I wasn't paying attention to one song in specific.
