A Foggy Desolate Town

Recommended Posts

I making a track after I woke up to a foggy morning. I am planning to create a short movie out off it where a guy was drawn into this mysterious town.

I created this atmospheric layer to blend in with the fog. I then added this bell and the rusty echoing drums.

Ideas and suggestions appreciated.

I feel like the drums aren't totally consistent in their groove. This seems to be a theme with your work and I can never tell if it's intentional.
Focusing on D is fine as a drone tone, and the whole step deviations are quite nice, but I feel like it's not quite atmospheric or unsettling without change. Music is not so much about repetition as it is deviation from that repetition; most comp teachers tend to leave that second part out.

I quite like the piece as a beginning of something larger. One of the possibilities is to

1. Add more layers

2. To turn layers on and off.

I felt the drums were to much on the foreground, I know tho it can be a thing in a lot of styles. I quite like the twisted way you use the drumgroove. I don't have the problem Monarcheon has as long its a consistent element throughout the whole piece. Find ways to play with this element and you create your own soundworld.  I think your in the right track!
