Piano in Db

Recommended Posts

I wrote this one in January 13, 2014 and edited a bit just now. I was just having fun with melodies that time and I thought maybe develop this one into a short but fun piece. Plus, this was my first attempt on this style of writing 😄

Catchy, and fun! I like the fact that the piece somehow seems "self-aware", and becomes increasingly wacky as it goes along (in a good way). I think your piano writing is reasonable for playing all the way through, although ms 30 is a bit of a pain, with the R.H. playing all those 4-note chords at that tempo. It's definitely doable, but the fact it's the only measure in the piece with that technical challenge feels kind of thrown in, and I think it wouldn't suffer musically if you removed the bottom note from each R.H. chord. Also, you may want to write the sustain pedal there so that it sustains the first 3 beats, then the next 3 beats, instead of the whole 6 beats throughout. The sudden dissonance it causes is a nice touch, but I think it may be more than you're actually looking for, particularly if actually played on a real piano. Just a couple nitpicks.

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed listening to this! 😄
