Posted it here as it would benefit from a conductor. It contrasts a string orchestra muted throughout with soloists un-muted. 

It remains fairly true to the mode though modulates often. A few non-harmony and passing notes. 

It's slow and mostly quiet (in case you have an aversion to that)! Any comment would be gratefully received.

Not bad at all. A score would make reviewing this a lot easier -and provide more meat to the review.

I especially love the interplay around 1:29, I feel more of this texture would benefit the overall feel of the movement. 

I hope you post a score of this -again, it would make reviewing this work better.

Nice dissonant harmonies in there. You could use more pizzicatos to emphasize the rythm, you just use it on double bass at the begining. I feel some past arpeggios or scales on violins and violas can help giving a more varied texture and emphasize the nice sincopated rythm. Also some tremolos or harmonics can fit in there.

Anyway are just ideas, it sounds great!

As @jawoodruff said, a score is very appreciated.

For this type of music, VST are usually very unflattering and a real performance become even more important. For that reason, and without a score, it's quite hard to take this music for what it is.

However, I appreciate what you composed, and your string writing seems very solid.

I like the interplay between parts closer to a monophonic and polyphonic setting.

Thank you indeed. About a score - what my daw produces is all but useless - very accurate but giving no control over pdf production. With simple scores it can be massaged. Something might be possible and I'll try. I usually handwrite my finished scores; held up on this one because the whole suite isn't yet complete.

 Thank you also for your comments - most helpful. It's the second (slow) movement of a suite. When I wrote the modal triads on all 12 chromatic notes I added the 7ths 9ths and 11ths hence the dissonances. There are also moments when it sounds as if it's resolving into a major key which can be done within a mode. I take your point about pizzicato - the 3rd movement was going to start with pizzicato so I toned it back here. However, progress on that movement is slow and if I'm forced to treat this as a 'stand-alone' a lament or something, I'll revisit the bass parts.

Agreed about VSTis. Nothing beats live performance! Although with care one ends up with an ideal VST performance the accuracy and quality of which can be difficult to match live - I've also had that experience.  I'm reasonably happy with this one having had strings pieces performed in the past. (It's rare that I touch mixer sliders once they're initially set (0db). It's important to know how/if one's rehearsing an orchestra, to get the overall effect hoped for - to me, anyway.) 

One thing's certain: our town orchestra couldn't play the suite..

What I meant is that there are times in which all the parts have important individual lines, creating a setting that is more "polyphonic". 

In other moments there is a clear element/line in which the listener should focus their attention to, which means that the other instruments will only serve as a support.
