Perspectives - for amplified violin and vibraphone

Just wrote this insanely fun piece for amplified violin. The trick to the piece is that the violin is delayed throughout creating an echo effect. This allows for fun horizontally formed harmonies and an overall nice atmospheric mood.

Let me know what you think - also the score may have some slight differences to the audio. Perspectives.pdf

If it "free" or is it Q=60? I feel like for a quarter note delay you'd want to be specific.

Well, I meant it in a more rubato kind of way. It’s actually supposed to be performed with a click track but the rhythms can be played somewhat freely within the context. Also the performer can go a faster or slower tempo if they please.

One more question about the delay: How fast, or in what way, does the echo decay?

The quality of the soundtrack is good, by the way.

In this recording the feedback is set to 75%. I didn’t post the notes page of the piece but it says feedback should be at least 75-100%, but at performers discretion.

This is a fun idea.

One caveat that I have regarding this is your choice of glissandi (particularly when you indicate to gliss. 2nd and third intervals). The playback makes this sound awesome -but in reality, you're not going to get much slide between the A and F in measure 8, the B to A in measure 38, and especially the D to E in the last two measures. The notes are much closer together in the higher positions (particularly after 3rd position) on the violin. The tempo does help somewhat -but probably won't be enough to really increase the impact of those moments. Perhaps you could displace up or down an octave to produce the impact your hoping for?
