Johann Christian Bach - Sinfonia Concertante in C-major, T289, No.4 (1775)

Recommended Posts

I would like to share one of my favorite orchestral works by Johann Christian Bach. Bach worked as Music Master for Charlotte of Mecklenburg, the Queen Consort for Britain and Ireland through her marriage to King George III.

While in London, Bach worked alongside Carl Abel with whom he held subscription concerts at the Hanover Rooms. This would would have featured at such a concert and would mark the height of his career before he would run into a series of unfortunate events that compounded the declining influence of his brand, so to speak.

I was in fact 14 when I first heard the third movement of this work on our local classical radio station and I was eager to find out what it was. From there spawned a sort of obsession with his music and beyond.
