John Williams - Olympic Fanfare 1984

Recommended Posts

Toying around with the new Opus engine from East West. Decided to do the Olympic Fanfare from 1984, composed by John Williams.

Sounds great! I've always loved John Williams. He was one of the only reasons I can rewatch the prequels!

I remember studying this piece at school during my GCSEs (British exams at 16), incidentally also the furthest I went in musical education 😂 (beyond piano lessons, that is.) I think we were then asked to write our own event music having listened to it. I wrote a weird little piece in Sibelius which obsessed over the tonic and flattened major 6th chords, however at the time I was told that chord combination was "wrong"...
