VINO, I - BRUT. Symphony for Winds.

First Movement to my First Symphony. 

Wow!!

This is awesome, loads of color, very cinematic. I really love all the percussion too. 

It's always hard for me to comment on a movement of a piece without hearing how you envision this as a whole. Without hearing the other movements, I would have expected the faster section to be a more prominent feature. But as is, this is wonderful. 

It almost reminds me of Shostakovich's 10th symphony. I'm not sure if you've started the 2nd movement yet, but it seems like you're setting up for an energetic shorter 2nd movement, something at break neck speed featuring the percussion more in that. It seemed like a tease in this piece 😄

I wasn't much into the section starting at around 6:30, but again, I'm interested in seeing how this develops and ties together for the next movements. 

Anyway, these were just my initial impressions, and I'm already a fan of your work. I'll be sure to check out some more of your pieces while keeping a mental note of your name for future ones. Thanks for sharing!

You pretty much hit the nail on the head with what im currently doing with the second movement. The name of the symphony, VINO, is italian for wine. Each movement is a different wine, with its contents based off of the tasting notes. BRUT (pronounced like brute) is a type of champagne that is dry, raw, unsweetened and sparkling. So there are 3 main sections to this movement. The raw unsweetened section with the vibraphone and English horn, the dry section with the rhythmic ostinatos, and the sparkling full band sections in the middle of the 2. Thanks for asking.
