So I saw this ad for the site Uplaya.com. It's a website that you can upload songs onto, and they'll give you a rating. The rating seems to be based on hit songs of the past. (I'm going to guess it's all based on recent pop song, but that's just a guess). I think this sounds kind of ridiculous, and almost encourages all music to be the same, instead of encouraging creativity.

Here's the link to the rating program description: Hit Potential Technology :: uPlaya Artists

It seems like it might be a good way to share music...if your goal is to mimic another artist. It might even be a scam, I don't know exactly how you could measure music, and say that this has more potential of being a hit than that other song because it meets these criteria better. I'm just wondering what you all think about this, perhaps I'm missing something?

Did it rate your songs for you, in the way I described?

The ability to share music through this media seems legit to me. It's just the rating off of other songs that bugs me. Wow, I sound like a hypocrite after reading what I wrote earlier...well, I guess I changed my mind? Or I just suck at expressing what I mean in words...English teachers never really liked my writing...

Yeah, the piano piece got platinum. Howeveer, it didn't give me the detailed report I wanted -- the little pictures they have.

It seems like a garageband.com competitor.
