This seems like the best place to post this thread, so forgive me if it's the wrong forum for this :) The time has come for me to choose my options for GCSE (A British Qualification, lol) and I'm considering choosing music. However, does anyone know the standards required, for example how good the composition needs to be for a A*, and what you need to know about music, and so on. And also, if this helps, I'll be aiming to get a A*, so any comments regarding specifically to attaining this standard will be much appreciated. February 22, 201016 yr Find out which exam board it would be and look at their website. You can usually find the specification (the new word for syllabus) and past papers (which might also have mark schemes).
February 24, 201016 yr At GCSE level they'll look for basic understanding of harmony so using correct chords for the key you are in. Using more than one chord. I could help more if you told us the exam board you are on.

February 25, 201016 yr in AQA they will be looking to see if you can deal with music theory so using dynamics, articulation, sensible range on the instruments, clever ensemble and standard chords for the key.
