    What is wrong with 2)? It shows the correct number of beats in the measure. Also, if you move the quarter rest to the first beat, wouldn't that make it less confusing? EDIT: I'm sorry, I should have clarified. This question is in respect to Question 1 and Chalkwriter's response.
