  1. Hi there, This is a possible theme for a film I will be working on in a few months I don't really know what other information to give, so i'll just post the track http://pub.gamingw.net/27263/compelling%20story.mp3 thanks all
  2. Wrote this for a short cue. Includes piano, strings and accordion http://www.lyndonholland.com/music/before%20sunrise.mp3 Let me know what you guys think! Sorry haven't got a score
  3. Alright, here's the score. I wasn't able to get it into PDF form so, I hope a sib file is ok fountains.sib
  4. Thanks Nirvana. I should have explained myself better. This was written for a one minute piano piece assignment. The reason I didn't have too many ideas in there was because one minute isn't a long time to develop them, so I kept it simple Thanks for listening :)
  5. Nice! I liked the climatic part with the fff brass. Overall, I felt like it needed a bit more dynamic range though. It felt like it was all on one level before that part. Not sure, if you've compressed this or something, but it would be a simple edit to just quieten a few sections or even take a few instruments out to vary the colour! Nice job though
  6. Fountains Haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm back now and hopefully will stick around! I wrote this piece over the last day or two. It's just a one minute piano piece that I needed to write for uni. Been practicing some jazz techniques with this one. http://www.lyndonholland.com/music/fountains.mp3 thanks p.s. I also have a Sibelius score if anyone wants to look at it.
  7. Thanks Alan, I used CBS slaps. It's a sample in the EWQLSO. it's not pizz, so I assume its played with the bow, but probably the convential way round
  8. I wrote a piece of music for orchestra, which has elements of your standard action music you might find in a film. http://www.lyndonholland.com/music/reaching%20the%20top.mp3 open for any critique :)
  9. Ok I whilst, you haven't told me anything, but where I have gone wrong and not how to fix it, I see what you're saying. I think major problem is that the samples are recorded close miced, soany reverb won't sound as good as recorded in an actual Concert hall. I am going to be buying Quantum Leap Gold XP symphone library soon, which is recorded in a concert hall. I've heard the demo, songs and they are a lot better in my opinon. The samples I have now, while still good, remind me of the sort of sound you get from the Metal gear solid 2 soundtrack. It sounds good, but doesn't actually sound completely real.
  10. ok, how could I improve the quality of the piece in terms of production?
  11. lol. Thanks for your comments guys. But to be honest I don't think you really understand how it works. You don't just magically come up with your own style. It's a combination of taking in other styles and making it your own. Nothing is completely 'original' so to speak. I've only just turned 20 and am still learning new things, but I don't agree that you have to come up with a completely new style in order to make it in the film music buisness. Most film directors couldn't give a crap as long as it sounds good and works with the picture. This is actually where a lot of composers fail in my mind. Film music is music not to be listened to on its own, but to support the picture. If that means using clich
  12. Thanks for the compliments  Any advice of how it can be improved?
  13. hello there. I'm new to forums here. I wrote this piece of music today. Let me know what you think :) http://www.lyndonholland.com/music/Zack%20and%20I.mp3
