Finale 2007 Mac problem
Hi there, I just got a new Intel-based MacBook Pro and I am having trouble getting the Garritan sounds included in Finale 2007 to work. When I install everything, the proper folders are made in the applications folder, but no sound is present in Finale and Kontakt Player does not come up when I go to choose it to play for the channels needed. Any help? I had this Finale installed on my Windows XP machine and never had problems. Thanks

multiple horns on staff
Hi there, If I have two staves of horns with two horns each, what is the best way to put this into Finale? I have been using layers. However, some of the articulations are hard to read and slurs run into dynamics etc. Also, should I hide rests in second layer when they are shared by the first layer? I really want to keep the two staves of horns. Any ideas? Thanks

trouble with french horn
I have a score with two staves of Horn. The first stave is for Hn 1 & 2 and the second for Hn 3 & 4. With how the parts are structured, it would work best (after transposition) to put the hn 3/4 part in tenor clef. But do horns read tenor clef?

contrast
my assignment is as follows: "audition procedures... Composers must submit scores and recordings of two contrasting works." if my first piece is scored for orchestra and chorus and is andante in C Maj can the second also be scored for orchestra and chorus in a min?

contrast
the first piece i have written is for a small classical orchestra and chorus. would another orchestra piece then be unacceptable?

contrast
I'm writing two pieces for school admissions, and the directions say two contrasting pieces. What would exactly count as contrasting. If one piece is in C and is adagio-andante can the other be in a and be andante? Or do I need a fast minor piece? thanks

how to score a piece
when i have researched scores, i have found them to all have 1) the instruments in score order and 2) to have a different way of displaying the instruments. for instance, some scores combine 1 and 2 parts onto the same stave for flutes, clarinets, bassoons, horns, trumpets, trombones, etc. is there a correct way to do this? or should i just list each part out on separate staves? my ensemble is: 2 fl (1 pic), 2 ob, 2 cl., 2 bs, 4 hn, 2 tpt, 3 tbn, 1 tba, timp, violin 1/2, vla, vc, db. thank you
