  1. Hello all, This is my first post on this site. I am not by any means a professional composer/arranger but I regularly write arrangements for marching band and with marching season right around the corner I was looking for some feedback on an arrangement from those of you who may be more familiar with it. This is an arrangement of the new song "Closer" by Ne-Yo. My real hang up is what key to leave the arrangement in. There is one done in G and one done in F. The one in G sounds more like the original song but, it's in an unfamiliar key for most marching bands. The arrangement in F is in a more comfortable range for most of the instruments but, I don't know if the arrangement in F works as well for some reason. If anyone would like to offer feedback you can listen to both arrangements here: Closer in G Closer in F I'm also open to hearing feedback on the arrangement in general. *Note: You may notice that the percussion in the arrangements is a drumset. Most of the bands that use my arrangements have smaller pep bands that use drumsets with drummers who freestyle and a lot of marching band drum lines make up their own parts. Because of this, I just use the drumset to give an outline/idea of what the percussion part should sound like.
