  1. so I thought I would post the begining to one of the other movmnts to see if ppl liked it otherwise ill trash it Nine.MUS
  2. Thanx again for all of your comments In regards to Matuelso comment on wanting more moods, that is what the other movments are for that I am working on right now. He also said that he would have liked the D section to be more light music, and I think the section isn't necesarilly "light", but I do think that it definatly not dark at all. I think it leaves you with a sence of pride in what you have accomplished and leaves you with a feeling hope that in the end everything will work out. Actually I think the whole piece leaves you with a feeling of what is to come next, and that is why I ended it with the cadenza, because it fits perfectly into the next movment. So I am glad it left you wanting Matuelso The actual format of the movment is (intro, A, B, C, A, mix of all of the themes, and finally the intro/closing again) You said that is wasnt emiotional, and that is somthing I really try to work on in all of my music. I think the C and the mix of all of the themes are extreemly emotional, or atleast they are for me. I hope that this piece brings emotion out of people, but not everyone will see what I am trying to say throughout the song. Hopefully once I finish the other movements it will be easier to understand. Thank you again for all of your comments they all are going back into the song and I will be changing things
  3. I definatly agree with what you said J Br., but what did you mean by "but I don't find it really serious because of it's rhythms and some of the instrument choices."
  4. Thanks for all of your comments. I am definately goin to change a lot of things and just polish it up
  5. I am a senior in high school. I wrote music back in 7th grade on piano, and that was all I did until a year or so ago when I got finale
  6. Just curious, what is your background in music? Well Ive played piano for a while and saxophone. I play all of the woodwinds, which makes it so easy for me to write for them because I can play all of the parts, so thats what I do. I also play trumpet so that works well. I have a really hard time writing for low brass and strings though. I never know exactly what I am doin. So that is why I am really excited to have the piece played because hopefully it will improve my composition skills greatly. Oh and percussion is wierd for me too.
  7. thnx for your comments. We actually havn't played it yet. They were supose to sight read it today but I wasn't in school so I dont know if they did.
  8. This song is called Eight and it was written for my highschool full orchesta. The are also a lot of things i just have to polish up (once I hear it live I'll know what I need to change), but give me your harshest critisism please! Enjoy! I was also wandering how you get your compositions to sound like real orchestras. I know you need a program, but what kind and does it work with finale? Eight.MUS
  9. that would be amazing if you would get it done in finale; I actually have most of the song worked out on the piano already from listening to it. I was playing it before class today and my chior director who is a professional piano player really liked the song.
  10. Wow! all i can say is Wow! I absolutly love this piece. The name is so fitting it truely sounds like the circus of the dead. The emotion in the piece is spectacular, and if someone would actually be playing live the emotion would be 100 times more amazing. I would love to play this piece for a recital! Do you think you could give me a copy of it. The only thing i would change would be the ending. You have a motif like Eb C Eb C D B G (2 8th notes followed by 4 quarter notes or 2 16th notes folowed by 4 8ths depending on if its in 2 or 4) or somthing like that, and i would put it at the end and end with a G and not resolve it to leave us with a sense of wandering.
  11. I really like this piece. :D You do a great job of illistrating the feeling you want your audience to have; the only thing i didnt like about it was that you never brought in all of the winds of a full orchestra. I think that there are some amizing parts, that could be enhanced through adding more instruments, but if you just wanted the solo/soli brass, thats works too. You could also make the piece longer, and if you added more instruments I think it would be a lot easier to do that. The ending is also kindof abrubt, but it leaves you wandering what is coming next, so if your writing peice after it for a movie score or somthing like that, then i think it is very effective. How are you getting that sound quality of a real orchestra? :) Ive always wandered how ppl do that
  12. The timpani can actually play from a low D (below the staff) to a high C (middle C, 1st legger line above the staff). He could be refering to the romantic, classical, or another time period and if thats the case im not sure, but todays timpani can play from the D to the C. So actually your high A works, but usually low notes are better on timpani
  13. I really like your song, and the thing that i think is missing is it seems like your trying to make a build into somthing, but then you dont go to it, and i think it would be amazing if you put in a flowing melody after the huge build
  14. I think this song has great potential. I made some changes just in the 1st part of the song and you can finish the rest, if you need any help I would be more than willing to. u.MUS
  15. WOW I really really like this piece. Its energy is just amazing. Wow I cant tell you how much i love this piece; I am actually goin to go play it on the piano right now. The only thing I would change is the ending here is a different one wow.MUS
