Conceptual Sketch #1
I feel like I'm listening to the soundtrack of a zombie's existential crisis. Which is to say, I like it a lot.

no no no no, slaping an octave on the bass will turn the whole thing to mush. ----- Here we are, I've reuploaded the track. Say it with me, folks: Now, with mastering!Lesson learned.

Thank, man! Where's your piece? I'd be very interested to listen to it. I hear you on the drone bass, and I will give it a try. I left the bass note a drone just because I was concerned about it being a little over-stereotypically new age with the synthvox on top and a big fat fifth on the bottom. As for the lack of bassiness, before adding another instrument or note, I'll probably try pitching the whole thing down a few steps first. That pad is so resonant, there's not much room for anything else. And you're right, the ending is too abrupt. This was built in FL Studio 8, mostly using Sytrus and a whole raft of effects I don't recall at the moment. It'll be mastered with FL Studio, too, when it's time for that ;-), which will resolve the volume and the slightly out of control ressonance I decided to ignore.

try reinstalling your soundcard drivers, dude. Either you didn't put them back together, or something got borked the first time.

USB Microphone
Recording pianos is tough, but I've had a lot of luck putting my only mic underneath the piano. Granted, I was recording in a huge baroque catholic cathedral, so it was a quick and dirty solution to eliminating most of the reflections and room noise, but it worked.

not a bad go, but what's going on with the panning? your bass, your lead and your pads are in one ear, and the drums in the other. it makes me feel like I'm tipping over. ;-) Were you maybe having trouble with muddy instruments, and you panned everything so hard to keep everything out of each other's way?

This is a sample from an ambient album I'm working on, codename: Vistas. It doesn't have a title, and while I'm not sure that it's done, I've been staring at it for weeks and I can't think of another thing to do, so I'm calling it finished. Simple and light, especially compared to the industrial noise music I've made a lot of. Vistas 1
