That would be great, but he's not really an internet person, he barely even has an e-mail address..!
  2. I really like some of your ideas.. Particularly the descending figures in bar 49, after the trill. However, I have to agree with Gamma that it overall feels a tad incoherent.. Particularly after that passage I mentioned, I think after your fermatta it goes into the softer theme a bit too abruptly. I do like that theme, particularly how you go from F to B to A flat, I think it's a very nice sound.. It's also funny how you put exclamation marks after your sforzandos at the end! I do like it, it sort of sounds to me as what it would sound like if Ives tried to evoke what you explained or something :P.. Good stuff!

Yeah, I'm studying with him! You should find some of his other danzones, they're good stuff! And his cello concerto!

Isn't Cárdenas in Mexico City somehow involved in the ENM? I think so.. I've met Alondra de la Parra, you should totally send in your piece for her Young Composer's Competition next year.. Apart from that I only know Arturo Márquez.. But he's too withdrawn in his own music to pull any favors with conductors.. :P

Wow, that's impressive, our own veritable Takemitsu.. Well, keep up the good work, I really liked your piece.

Yeah, I love Chavez's work! I see, well I really liked the rhythmic drive in that middle section. Where did you learn orchestration? You're quite good.

Otro mexicano por acá! I liked it, your orchestral writing is really good, and you were quite effective at setting a very specific atmosphere. The "concheros" section is really exciting and did make me think of some Chavez or Revueltas.. I have to say, however, it does come out sounding more rooted in the European tradition than with a strong Mexican drive. I don't have much bad things to say about it apart from that, though.. It's a worthy contribution to the Bicentenario celebrations and an exciting piece. -Andrew
  8. Double post, can I delete posts?
  9. Good, I liked it, although I'd like to see a bit more variety in the left hand (the piano overall, actually) and maybe a bit more rhythmic adventure-ness (that's not even a word, is it? :P). Curious ending too, what made you want to finish on a dominant seventh?
  10. That's a lovely little piece, very effective as a carol, I think.. I like some of your harmonies, though I'd have to see a score to comment more on that. No lyrics at least? I think at least knowing the lyrics is a very important part of giving an opinion on a vocal work..
  11. Oh boy, that's a hard piece. I like the sound of it as a technical study, but I can't say I like the cadence at the end, it sort of brings down the character you built.. I'd have it end on the high G, but that's just me.. Overall I think it's a good work, though those chromatic runs will be quite fiendish at that speed!
