July 25, 200520 yr I know a lot of forums have something like this, so I thought it'd be fun to do something kind of like that here. Basically, someone posts a short recording of a section of a piece of music, and someone else has to guess what the piece is. As long as no one puts up obscure repetoire, it should be fun. Also, people can ask for hints or something if they're stuck. So here's a little snippet of something (I tried to make it easy for the first one). So what is it (the composer and piece please)? minue7.MID
July 25, 200520 yr OK, a new one. Somewhat more difficult, but still a well-known piece. 369___Dwelling_in_the_Dark__Orchestra_.mid
July 25, 200520 yr Ah...among my great favourites! That's the Gloria from "Missa in tempore belli" (Mass in Time of War), also known as the Paukenmesse, by Franz Josef Haydn (1732-1809). An appropriate piece to have chosen, given the condition of the world these days.
July 26, 200520 yr Author I've never heard that before, but I really liked it. Here's something more difficult - we've got some great players here! (BTW, if you know you have the answer right, you can go ahead and post another piece for us to guess. If you don't know how to do this, just ask me because its easy if you have a PC, as Windows has built in software for this. ) I'm out of space on this server so I've hosted this sample elsewhere. Riddle me this....
July 29, 200520 yr Not user what it is and I probably never will... I wouldn't listen to music like this for the joy of listening, therefore would never know it. But.... maybe a hint would help!!!
July 30, 200520 yr Author Interesting... I thought this was a fairly accessible piece. I'll give you all a hint though. This is the second movement of something, but if you can tell me the name of the full work that will be good enough. Hint: The title of the full piece is related to the night. This is the first of the three great triptychs (three movement works) for orchestra that the composer wrote.
