When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd - Death Carol SATB

Featured Replies

I am working on a peice that sets a section of the text of Walt Whitman's "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd" called "Death Carol".

Here it is:

DEATH CAROL.

Come, lovely and soothing Death,

Undulate round the world, serenely arriving, arriving,

In the day, in the night, to all, to each,

Sooner or later, delicate Death.

I just have to tell you one thing: get your hands on a good dictionary, and check the syllabification of your text, PLEASE. Right now it's just overflowing with errors.

Okay thanks for responding I never have actually written vocal/choral music before so I was just splitting the words the way I thought they were supposed to be but thank you for the help I re-uploaded the score and I beleive I fixed everything wrong. One question though How do I split the words: soothing and later?

After re-listening to it I don't really like the ending it doesn't seem in the chordal structure of the rest of the piece so I will change that.

Thanks again,

Jacob

p.s. I also put up a midi if it's of any help...I have a rough draft of the piano part done but I am still fixing a few things.
