Aaron Hamilton
My piano piece which im currently working on is in five-four time and I cant remember the conventions for grouping quavers and such notes. Since 5/4 is usually written as 1, 2, 1, 2, 3 or 1, 2, 3, 1, 2 most likely groups of 4 or 6 quavers would be grouped. Anyway, if anyone knows the convention, please tell me. Thanks in advance. J. Lee Graham
I believe it has more to do with where the strong beats fall in the measure than any particular convention, i.e. if the measure is felt as 12-123, then you'll beam quavers in 4 and 6.
