Looking for advice on editing MIDI game music

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm kind of new here ;) I registered because I was looking for either people or techniques to help me edit some music from an old 80's MSX game. I'm planning a remake of the game on the mobile phone, and I need some music to go with it. I already got MIDI-files ripped from the original, but they don't sound good at all, not anything like the original. The basic melody is there though.

Since I ripped the exact info from the original, everything should be the same, but the instruments and the volume of every channel is not the same. I'm kind of reluctant to start editing this manually, since I have no knowledge yet of editing midi-files, nor do I have a lot of musical talent :whistling:

Basically, my plan was to ask here if someone could listen to it or maybe even do the editing for me, but I think asking that here is a bit impolite and overkill :D I would appreciate any reaction about how to make some easliy identifiable tune from the crap I have now. Also, if anyone happens to know a person or a forum with persons interested in editing this stuff I'd love to hear it.

Also.. bonus points for anyone who manages to guess the game :)
