Hi,

I sent you a private message about a few different options. I have a long list of piece waiting for me to write them and about as many ones that need to be finished.

You didn't want anything too mammoth, so here are two possibilities:

1. Finish movment of String Quartet (Exposition written, needs development)

2. From scratch: Sonata for Violin and Piano (or possibly a pair of Marimbas)

Either is fine for me. If you have any other ideas, suggest away.

Thanks,

Chris

Okay sure. How shall we begin? Do you want me to just go and compose some ideas, or is there a specific way you want me to approach this?

Also, from a personal perspective when I think of good violin sonatas, I think Bartok and Szymanowski (Myths is amazing) etc

I'm fairly busy just at the moment, but I'll post some sketches tomorrow hopefully.

At the moment, it is Violin and Marimba. First movement Allegro... perhaps even molto.

The Marimbas are going to be the Large and Medium sizes.

etc

Thanks

Here you go!

Just a short introduction and a the two base themes that will likely be the focus of this movement.

First problem I'm trying to work out right at the moment is how I'm going to get some backing figures into it without it feeling like an obviously new section or jolting the listener. I'm thinking that I want a legato repeating rythmic figure to end up in the background.

It will be a tremello-type chord thing in the marimbas.

Anywho, looking forward to hearing your comments.

Thanks,

Chris

Looking at that, it has turned into something a bit more complex than anticipated... haha

If you'd prefer this might be easy for teaching purposes:
