The Light Breaks Through the Leaves

Hey everyone.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this piece. It's inspired by the picture below, and I'm reasonably happy with it. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks.

As requested, the sample library used for this piece was exclusively EWQLSO Platinum, and was scored and sequenced in Logic Pro 8.

ok I have nothing intellectual to say because I've had a few drinks, but thought this was ace and REALLY well put together for a piece made from VIs! Keep it up!

Even drunk comments are welcome, so thank you. :)

First off welcome to YC.

This is very peaceful and depicts the picture well.

Would you add in your original post what sequencer and libraries you used? That always helps those here decide what they like and dislike for samples.

It also helps to listen and comment on other's works here. Many will return the favor and that is what makes the site work.

Very nice piece.

I completely agree with everything you said, and thank you for the welcome. I fully intend to be an active participant in this forum, especially as my knowledge of composition expands and enables me to offer words of wisdom rather than just an "I like it," or "I don't like it" comment.

Thanks for listening!

P.S. Editing initial posting to include software used.

Yes, very nice indeed, tho I am a sucker for string ensembles.

I can see how you could have been inspired by that picture. There's hints of "it's dark in here" as well as "I'd love to be out there in the sun"

Nice job.

Hi there!

I liked the mood of this piece a lot. The only thing I didn't like very much: the high flutes. They reminded me of cheesy movie scores from my childhood. Could, of course, be the patch you're using. Everything else, though, was absolutely brilliant!

I'm curious to know what you used for the low strings here. They sounded very good.

Nice job!

I liked this a lot. I really like the dynamic push and pull in the Cello. Was that just violin harmonics at the beginning? It did/does sound like a flute, but it seems this is just a string ensemb. so I imagine it's harmonics. I feel you captured the picture well. Good job on the piece, and I'll echo Ron to say welcome!

I think so. It does sound like harmonics.

By the way... this piece is lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice piece of music. I felt a lot of sorrow in it. I agree with what recantra commented. I thought it ended to quickly and would have liked to see it continue on and develop more. Still, very sentimental.

Good work.

I think it's a good piece. Nice harmonies in there.

The only thing is I wish it would last longer and maybe build up to something bigger.

I feel it might be wandering a bit too much without a clear climax.. It would suit well in a less dramatic scene, but for me I think it could be taken to great heights over many minutes.
