Queen Elisabeth Competition

Recommended Posts

I received an e-mail about this competition. I will not be submitting anything because I would just feel that I am way out of my league. However, I know there are more than a couple of great composers on this site who already have major works completed or near completed that would be in the running for this competition. I wanted to make everyone aware of this just in case they wanted to submit something. Wouldn't it be great to have a YC composer win this competition!

The winning work will be played by the 12 finalists of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for pianists in 2010, in the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts.

Here is the timetable for the events:

7 November 2009 deadline for sending applications

30 November - 2 December 2009 examination of the scores by the international jury

31 December 2009 final date by which the laureate and finalists will be informed of their selection

1 February 2010 final date by which the laureate must have sent the piano reduction of the orchestral score

1 April 2010 final date by which the laureate must have sent the orchestral material

18 May 2010 rehearsals with the orchestra commence

21 May 2010 press conference

24 May 2010 premiere of the work

1 June 2010 awards ceremony

lol, I've known about this sinse about last year (when it was the violin/orchestra).

I've always had intensions off trying to write something for it (whether or not a ultimately turned in something), but I have never gotten around to it. It is a wonderfull competition.

Maybe I'll do the one in a couple years.... :hmmm:

Life is too short to be serious, laugh it up.

I wouldn't normally do this, but, how wrong. your statement implies being serious is a bad thing and a waste of time, and that everybody should laugh at a duck being beaten by a child, rather than stopping the child.
