Mike Oldfield

Featured Replies

As a big fun of Mike's music, I would like to know any of you people who are familiar with his music deeply i.e. scrutinizing his works following his style etc.

I love his earlier works namely Tubular Bells, Ommadawn(my favorite), Hergest Ridge, Incantations and Platinum.

I've found the following Ommadawn score and I'm examining it to comprehend what he did and how he did. If some of you are interested as well here's the link:

I love Mike Oldfield's earlier works, too... But my favourite is Hergest Ridge :D

Have you yet listened to his latest album "Music of the Spheres"?

It's basically Mike Oldfield orchestrated. Not exactly classical... not exactly soundtrack... not exactly new age. Awesome music. Dare I say - better than Tubular Bells.

I haven't really played his music - only a few melodies so I haven't studied any scores, but I think what he did on some pieces at the last album is brilliant. Especially the part "Tempest" - dissonant rhythms and beautiful melodies. Awesome.
