Pro Tools 8

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just curious if anyone has had any experience with Pro Tools 8 M-Powered software. I had just recently acquired an M-Audio Delta Audiophile 192 sound card and I have always loved using Sibelius software to write my music but I found it frustrating to use sequencers to input EWQLSO sounds into it. After trying the sound sets for Sibelius (which is awesome) there were still too many problems I would run into. After looking around the net, I ran into this Pro Tools 8 program that says it uses the Sibelius platform for music notation which would be perfect for me as I love notation and then using the sequencer to master the sounds.

Just curious if anyone had any comments on the Pro Tools 8 M-powered software, either good or bad.

Thanks!

Hi, my advice is to use the sequencer to compose, and then notate it with Sibelus. So, you can use CPU power for composing. Particularly, as Sibelus wants sound sets, there would be a problem with using external sound samples with EWQLSO..Especially with play edition. For finale users are luckier, finale uses the sound sample directly however it needs CPU power. If you have got a quad core, for example, it uses the first core CPU. Not all cores at the same time. When it comes to protools, I think there wouldnt be a difference in the name usage. Another thing is that notation software outputs are different from sequencer outputs. Mixing quality at sequencer is better than mixing quality at notation software. I had that experinece with finale. It might be similar with sibelus. Sound set might be a real problem with the conjuction of sibelus and sequencer for EWQLSO. Last thing, I dont think any sequencer's own notation option is better than sibelus or finale. So you can compose separate from sibleus, but you can use sibelus to notate it. It sounds a waste of time , doesn't it? Take care..
