Marimba Quartet

Featured Replies

This is a marimba quartet for intermediate players, so a pretty solid high school could do it, and just about every college. It's pretty simple, just a few a sections. This movement is a dance, so the rhythms are light and bouncy.

I really enjoyed it. Big time. It kind of reminds me of Steve Reich, particularly with the modality and some use of repetition, and that's why I liked it probably.

My musical tastes are a little unusual, and this piece satisfied them. Thanks a lot for this.

One criticality - the score is a little ugly. Sure its accurate (apart from the excessive use of triplets which seem to give the need for compound time), but the general layout is a little disheartening. For such a modern and inventive piece, don't make the score old and boring :D

A wonderful, wonderful piece though. Really enjoyed it.

haha, thank you so much! This was written before I knew how to do proper notation, but I'll be sure to fix that and reupload the score sometime. Thanks for the comment!

Very well done, good sir! I liked how you used your material and rhythms. The work had a very nice bounce and liveliness to it. Very very well done!

This is a great piece I hope to hear the other movements when you complete it. I love how you blended the pitches, it really sounds clean, for lack of words, or crisp maybe.
