Sonata For Cello and Piano, Resigniert

Featured Replies

First movement of my first Sonata for Cello and Piano

Hi Guys,

My name is Alan, I study performance and classical composition at Berklee, this is my first Sonata and actually the first work of mine that I like. I would like to hear some comments about this movement, I'm currently working on the second one right now and I am sure that it won't stay the way it is right now, but very close.

Thank you so much for taking some of your time to comment on this, I'll take a look at your works too if you dont mind.

Have a good week everyone.

Sonata For Cello and Piano, Resigniert

Hi, Alan. I enjoyed listening to your sonata for piano and cello. I listened to it a couple of times, the second time I followed the score to see how you composed it. I loved your theme, and how you have created a world that draws people in, and kept it believable (if that makes sense). I can imagine an ogre from a children's story or some other villain when I listen to it. I look forward to hearing the second movement :)

Hi Darren,

Thank you for replying, I was a little dissapointed that nobody gave me any kind of feedback or opinion, but is always good to see that there are people that still have time to listen and comment on other "composer" projects. The sonata is called Resigniert(resign), hahaha It was funny the you pictured an ogre when you listened to it, never thought of it in that way. I'm working on the second movement, and I'm following Beethoven's 7th symphony 2nd movement for mine.

Anyways, thanks a lot for replying, i'll be sure to check your compositions too later on today :)

I don't know anything about cello playing, but I play the piano. I must say it was very fun to read. The only parts that I didn't particularly enjoy were the repeating tritones such as in measure 34. It's pretty muddy for an interval like that down there on the piano when nothing else is going on. Of course, I'm sure you have your reasons. It does fit in the style of the piece, which I did enjoy. Good job!

I like it, that's all there is to it. I bring it back later for the recap, it is an important part of the second theme.

Thanks for listening to it, I'll upload the next two movements as soon as I finish them(MK).

hAVE A GOOD DAY
