July 26, 201114 yr Started a new website and my first blog post. Tell me if you think a non-0musician would be able to enjoy this as much as a musician? http://christophersahar.webs.com/apps/blog/ This would be one type of blog entry - The Composer's Workshop which would provide a nice overview to the understandiong of a piece of music. Thanks goes to Graham for referring me to the website building site.
July 26, 201114 yr Good luck with your blog. My suggestion if you are striving for a broader audience, particularly with non-musicians would be to start off with examples of music from more well-known and accessible composers. With that as a foundation, you can use that to introduce other, less well-known composers (to the general public at least) like Reich.
July 26, 201114 yr I will add your blog to the blogroll on my own (In The Mists). Generally, this is all commendably concise, but be careful of trying to explain several quite complex concepts at once. It might be an idea to flip the concept of this post around and look at a single compositional technique through several works rather than one work via several different techniques. Later on you can link back to the explanations of concepts when discussing works.
July 27, 201114 yr Author Thanks siwi - an excellent point. I realize the information is very dense. Considering your comment, in later posts, I would focus on one compositional technique mentioned in my first blog post. As time goes by the reader can refer back to the post that discussed the application of several concepts to gain a better understanding of application of several techniques.
