ClarkN
Why talk about this? first off, there are very few clarinet concertos I have ever heard of. Second off, this first movement is rather lovely. So, what is the opinion on the forum on this piece? I think it's really just okay. The 3rd movement is rather too chromatic for me to enjoy as thoroughly (I do love it, but it's more of a preference thing), though there are moments where I enjoy it. As a concerto, how does this rank? in my opinion, I'd say it's one of the better ones, atleast in the top 100 concertos. or do you think this concerto will fade into further obscurity? joshtsai
I'm a clarinetist and this is one of my favorite pieces. Some of the best from Copland. I mean I might be biased as it is my main instrument but it shows the composer's mastery in writing with his 'bittersweet lyricism'.
